Thompson woman sues ammo company

I was reading the Fargo forum and I say an article "Thompson woman sues ammo company." I want to read and find out more about it. The article is about a woman that shoots a gun and the bullet supposedly blew up. "Sheri Sponsler age 46, says a defect in the design or production of the shell caused her injuries" (forum C4). Her attorney says "the shell's brass casing holding the powder failed and exploded, blowing out the bottom of the gun's chamber and sending shrapnel into Sponsler's face, eye, and hand." There's many things that could of caused the exploding. The gun could have had a weak spot in it, the barrel could have been plugged, wrong shell for the gun, and others. There will have to be more evidence to prove it was the bullet that blew up. The ammunition company denis any wrongdoing and has asked to dismiss the case. The two sides are scheduled to meet on Feb. 25. She is seeking more than 75 thousand dollars for her pain and emotional distress. I do not think she should get the money, she knew the risks she was dealing with when she was shooting that gun. In today's society everyone is just sue happy. They know they can get money out of the big company's so they try all they can to do so.

  1. This is a story that people could take different sides. I can see where the woman is very upset, but they had some very interesting points about what could have happened. It would be fun to see what her experiences with weapons are. I believe that she will probably get some type of money unless it was jammed or wrong bullet. If it was her gun or the right bullet but had something wrong with it, she may end up with a case to bring to court. Weapons are very difficult to have everything working all at once.

  2. I believe that she will win this case unless something out of the ordinary happens in this case. But there is always two sides to the story and I can see why the women is mad. Weapons complicate things and there are so many laws now that its getting out of hand. But laws are necessary for the ones that lose control. I can see this women bringing this case to the court and seeing if the ending turns out different.

  3. I don't know what to think about this. I can see where the woman is coming from but freak accidents happen all the time. She whould have to prove that the ammuntion was tweaked and that it was the shell that failed instead of assuming it. How does she know that it was a defect in the shells casing? Did she look at it before and still decide to shoot it. It could have been a old shell that has been abused for awhile to. I don't think she will win this case since its her word against theirs.

  4. This is an interesting article in both sides of the argument. The woman suffers injuries that may cause permanent damage to her eye sight. But if she was taking all the safety precautions that one is suppose to use, like using eye protection this could not be an issue. The barrel of the gun could have been dirty or the firing pin could have malfunctioned. If thats the case, why not sue the gun company instead of the ammo.
